Lend a hand to save some fins . . .

Sharks in the Park:
  Sunday, 07 February 2010
  11:00am - 3:00pm

Events like this are a tremendous way to raise awareness and disseminate information . . .   but they would not be possible without enthusiastic supporters like you!

Please join us!

For this event, we need volunteers to hand out literature, answer questions, and generally engage curious passersby.

Since a notable portion of the local community speaks Chinese as a first language, we are extremely interested in volunteers with Mandarin or Cantonese language abilities.

If you know a lot about sharks and shark conservation, that's great.  But it's no problem if you don't -- we'll go over facts and figures in our volunteer meetings.

The rally and celebration begin at 11:00am.
Volunteers are asked to commit to a two (2) hour shift:
11:00am-1:00pm or 1:00-3:00pm.

Volunteer staff for the first shift will meet at 10:15 to make introductions, discuss duties and protocol, and help with any remaining setup.

Second shift volunteers will meet at 12:30pm.

Volunteers are welcome to arrive early or stay on if they please.

We expect to have coffee/tea/snacks available for our volunteers.   (Please bring your own reusable mug - we don't want to create unnecessary plastic waste)

For more information, or to volunteer, please contact:

Portsmouth square is about six blocks from the Montgomery BART station and Muni 9X runs right up Kearny Street. For those driving, street parking is competitive, but not impossible. However, there are several parking garages nearby, and the one just below the plaza is most convenient.
