OWUSS AND COARE ANNOUNCE NEW PARTNERSHIP

This past weekend,

COARE and the Our World–Underwater Scholarship Society (OWUSS) announced a new partnership. Beginning in 2014, OWUSS will add to its scholarship and internship offerings a new Ocean Conservation Internship, hosted by COARE. The announcement was made at the annual Rolex Scholarship Awards Ceremony held at the New York City Yacht Club on Saturday.

For more than 35 years, the Our World-Underwater Scholarship Society® has provided firsthand experiences in underwater-related disciplines to young people considering careers in the underwater world.

"Our organizations share such similar philosophies that more meaningful collaboration was inevitable. We're thrilled to continue and deepen our relationship with OWUSS," said Christopher Chin, COARE's executive director. "We are very excited to announce this new internship, and we heartily look forward to helping provide valuable organizational experience to the next group of future leaders."

"Christopher Chin and the COARE organization have been strong supporters of the OWUSS for several years, and we are pleased that COARE will be sponsoring a summer internship beginning in 2014," said OWUSS President Michael Emmerman. "This internship will provide valuable experience to a young person who is interested in a future career in environmental conservation and public policy."

The OWUSS/COARE Ocean Conservation Internship is designed to provide a wide range of practical, programmatic, and administrative experience relating to environmental and conservation issues of local, regional, national, and global significance. This new internship will enjoy its inaugural year with the 40th anniversary of the Our World-Underwater Scholarship Society.
